Storefront signage

After delivering on signage projects for over 13 years in Kenya, we can confidently say storefront signage should be at the forefront of your marketing needs.

All big companies in Kenya invest heavily in ‘Fascia Facade‘ signs. Whether it is a supermarket, a shopping mall, a learning institution, or a government office, they invest a big amount of money on signage.

Storefront signage comes in many forms. They can be illuminated or non-illuminated. What it boils down to is the budget of the companies, the signage materials you use for making the signage. Some corporate clients have specific material they prefer to use on their signages. Some may want a specific kind of lighting tube/bulb, others would want you achieve their specific color, which might involve you going an extra mile in achieving it.

Also some of them might want to save in the energy costs. So you have to come up with a solution that ensures they don’t spend too much on electricity costs due to signage.

What determines the price of business signs in Kenya?

There are so many factors that determine the cost of signage in Kenya. Here is a list of the factors that determine signage costs:

  1. Materials used for manufacturing the sign. Some signages require you to fabricate a steel frame. Others don’t require you to make a steel frame. For this reason, the one that requires a steel frame would be more costly than the one without.
  2. The lighting system. Indoor signage use a slightly cheaper lighting system that outdoor signage. The reason is the outdoor signs are susceptible to extreme whether conditions. As such, you must get the right material for the work to ensure the sign will light up for a long time to come.
  3. Ancillary costs. Since Kenya is a devolved country, the 47 counties charge different rates for doing businesses. They are the ones who set the prices for business permits, land rates, and signage permits. As such you have to confirm with the respective county you would like to install your signage in, to determine the final cost of putting up the sign.
  4. The size of the signage. The bigger the sign, the more the costs and vice versa.
  5. Transport and Labour costs. Shipping business signage to different parts of the country and the entire east africa, has it’s own fair share of challenges. Make sure to do your pre-feasibility study before manufacturing it away from the site.
  6. Printing technology cost. Printing using different machines has different charges. Different machines have different print quality and different technology. Some printers use cartridges, ink refills and others have UV finishing. These little factors could be the reason your print last 6 months, 2 years or 5 years. Determine how long you want your signage or billboards to last, then go for it.
